Alaska - June 7 - Monday

Great trip from Powhatan, VA to Spencer, WV today. Did 371 miles today.  First time I visited Babcock State Park in WV. Beautiful old mill there.

The mountain laurel was in full bloom which was a sight to behold.  Also rode the old New River bridge road to the bottom of the gorge.

That was fun and challenging with several VERY tight switchbacks. Arrived at the bottom just in time for the coal train coming.

Glad I saw the signals in time and stopped. The "new" gorge bridge is a real sight from the bottom.

An amazing engineering feat. Thought of Dane when I saw several canoes on the New River. Stopped by the New River Gorge Harley shop, BUT it was closed on Mondays! Had a great dinner with my brother and sister-in-law and an even better homemade dessert!!
