Leaving this morning from Santee, SC the weather looked great. Around 70 and sunny!! As we headed south into Florida the clouds moved in. We started hearing about some tropical activity in the Gulf that may affect Florida over the next couple of days!

Our arrival at the Florida state line. Just had to have a cup of fresh cold Florida orange juice at the welcome center!!

Didn't really think about it before the trip, but we really spent a lot of time and miles in the state of Florida. It was around 1,500 miles of travel once we crossed the border with Geogia on I 95 until we left two days later at the border with Alabama on I 10!! Don't think we spent as many miles in another state, including Texas!!!! Also, Florida spans two time zones. We even went into the Central time zone before we left the state!!

I had "met" another Harley rider on the HD Forums web site and from my blog. His name is Jeff from Fort Pierce, but his blog site name is Big Gator. I gave Jeff a call as we headed down I-95 and we planned to meet at the Flying J truck stop at the Fort Piece exit. Sure was nice to meet Jeff and he gave Bill and I some great tips on getting around the Miami traffic both going down and coming back. We saw some really nice scenery in southern Florida without ever getting into the Miami traffic!! THANKS again, Jeff/Big Gator for taking the time off from work to meet Bill and I!!!

Just after Fort Pierce we had to stop under a bridge construction project to put on our rain gear for the first time on the trip! It rained off and on most of the way to Florida City. Good timing and decision on putting our rain suits on when we did!!

We made it to Florida City and checked into our hotel. The desk clerk recommended a restaurant next door and gave us a coupon for a FREE dessert.

We headed on over to Captain's Restaurant. Both our meals were plentiful and very good! Bill had the shrimp creole

I had the grouper

The real highlight of the evening was the dessert. We both like bread pudding and that is what we selected for our FREE dessert. It had a great real rum sauce on it. Some of the best bread pudding I have ever had. Bread pudding is something that you don't really know what you are going to get, since it is prepared so many different ways. This just had a great sauce and consistency to it. Just perfect!!
