First 559 miles

Well I have completed 559 miles on the new 2012 Ultra Limited and 559 miles on a motorcycle since my accident over 11 weeks ago.

Feels good to be "Back in the Saddle Again"!! The Ultra Limited has performed great. I love it the way it is. I do not plan to change anything on as to the exhaust or air cleaner, i.e. NO stage 1 (I have been there and done that!!). I swear it has more power and sounds better than my ole 2007 with a stage 1 and Screamin' Eagle slip ons!! Hey, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and that is what I plan to do. Now I have done a few modifications as to "creature comforts" and looks, like some chrome, saddlebag guards, LED lights, etc.

I have been taking it easy on the 500 mile break in. Riding just mainly two lane country roads in central Virginia. The first 100 miles I could still feel the aches in my shoulder and collar bone. The last 400 miles felt great!! No aches or pains!! Did 215 miles yesterday with friends Mark and David down to South Boston, Virginia.

Mark just got a new 2012 Heritage Softail Classic. It is a sweet bike in the new HD orange color!! He was in the break in mode too so we rode together well. Had planned to eat lunch in South Boston at the Windmill Farm Bake Shop but it was closed on Mondays. Lesson learned, Mondays are not good lunch ride days as a lot of restaurants are closed on Mondays! Ended up at Shelton's Restaurant in Keysville, VA. It was very good and is a famous place as it has been there for over 50 years. Lots of other bikers there yesterday too so that was nice!

I have my 1,000 first maintenance scheduled for Friday, June 8 at my dealer. Don't know if I have mentioned but my dealer "threw in" FREE lifetime maintenance on my bike as a part of my purchase deal. I liked that. I am sure he is betting that I will not put many miles on this bike or keep if for a long time. Boy, do I plan to make out on that deal!!!!!! So, I need to get another 500 miles in the next week. Shouldn't be much of a "problem"!!
