After a nice sit down served FREE breakfast in the hotel restaurant we hit the road for another great day of riding. We wanted to ride part of the PCH on our way north instead of just pounding out the miles on I-5 so we decided to turn off onto CA-16 at Woodland and head over to US 101. As we were going through the town of Capay, CA a sign on the side of a building caught my eye. "The Road Trip" Bar & Grill!! I called Bill on the CB and said we gotta make a quick u-turn and I have to at least get a pic of our bikes in front of that sign!! That we did and seeing the "open" sign we decided to go in for a cup of coffee since it was still morning. Glad we did as The Road Trip Bar & Grill in Capay, CA is a really neat stop! Just wish we could have been there for lunch and/or dinner too.
Very tastefully decorated inside. This sign was made just for Bill and I!!!!
Someone had painted these hands on the crack of the floor next to our table. Cute!!
For all of our still working friends, this sign is for you!! Sorry about that!! Another hehe!
Now on to CA-16. This was one nice motorcycle road!! It runs through Cache Creek Canyon and follows Cache Creek. Very little traffic too and nice road. We really enjoyed that and was thankful we were not on I-5!!
We continued on CA-20 to US 101. 20 was a nice road passing by a nice lake, Clearlake. We saw a whole herd of elk along US 101 and I had to stop and get a picture!!
We rode the "Avenue of the giants" through the Redwood park. The redwoods sure are BIG!! Thought about parking the motorcycle beside one for a pic but didn't. We were getting tired and it was getting COLD (mid 50's) along the coast.
We did stop for a bathroom break (hey, there were actual restrooms nearby, so we didn't have to go in the ocean!!!!) and a nice picture of our motorcycles with the Pacific Ocean in the background along the PCH.
We made it to Crescent City for the night. Got a room at the famous Curly's Redwood Lodge. The entire lodge was built back in the 50's from one giant redwood tree. You can read the history on the above line. Again, had really nice covered parking for our motorcycles!! There was NO air conditioning and that was fine. The room did have a wall HEATER and we turned it on full blast!! Now that felt good!!!
The Fisherman's Restaurant was right across the street. We both had the fish and chips for dinner. It was very good and plentiful!!!
Had a great piece of blackberry pie for dessert. We tried to walk off some of the dinner by the harbor, but it was just too cold for us. Back to the room and ready for a restful night's sleep!
